Love and Let Go

Dear Visitor

Recently I was reading and came upon the following quote from C.S. Lewis:

To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket - safe, dark, motionless, airless - it will change. It will not be broken; it will become inbreakable, impenetrable, and irredeemable.

It reminded that loving and living in relationship are a risky, yet that is why we are here; to love and serve others. Among friends and family especially, love may not always be reciprocated in the way we think it should; but love anyway. We will experience difficulties and differences in many of our relationships. Sometimes those that we have been placed with along our journey may have different world views to our own.

The movie Shadowlands, starring Anthony Hopkins, is about the life of C.S. Lewis. It is a wonderful movie which reinforces the Lewis' words above. If you haven't seen it I suggest you rent it. It contains many life lessons for all of us.

The first Living Water Retreat was held last month. It was a wonderful day and those wonderful people who attended enjoyed a day of rest, peace and friendship. My wife Anne and I ran the day and the attendees were taught different techniques to still the mind when meditating (check out the group photo below).

The next Retreat Day will be held on Saturday, May 4 (check the details below). Booking is essential so if you wish to attend contact me either through email or phone to secure your place.

 Have a wonderful month.

Peace and blessings,
